Donald Trump Claims He Can’t Be Racist Because He Has "So Many Black Friends

During both his 2016 presidential campaign and now, former President Donald Trump has made several controversial statements. One of these statements was made recently during an interview with the news startup Semafor on Friday, June 14.

Trump denied being racist, saying he has “so many Black friends,” according to HuffPost. When asked what he thought about Black voters calling him racist, Trump responded, “I have so many Black friends that if I were a racist, they wouldn’t be friends.

They would know swiftly and better than anyone. If they believed I was racist, two minutes would pass without me with them. I am not racist! The host agreed and brought up recent sponsorships Trump received from Black stars, Semafor noted.

They see what I have done and they see strength,” Trump asserted. They want strength, security, and jobs.

They don’t want millions of people coming into our country and taking their jobs. And many of them believe they have had comparable events. To me, they have expressed quite precisely and rather simply.

Trump’s strong statements can be seen as race-baiting. He also mentioned his ‘rigged’ guilty verdict, saying that Black Americans support him because they understand his legal battles.

He said, “I think it’s through osmosis. They see what’s happening. And many of them believe they have had comparable events. To me, they have expressed quite precisely and rather simply. They see what’s happened to them.” These remarks were heavily criticized by Rev. Al Sharpton.

According to The Hill, during an interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on Friday, Sharpton asked voters to look at Trump’s record on issues related to Black Americans.

We cover it, I believe, with the record,” he remarked. I think that we should not take the bait of having to prove Donald Trump is a racist.”

He added, “Just look at his record. He has always race-baited. You only have to check his record.

To any of those who stand by him, show me when he was on the right side of any racial issue.” “I believe he’s a racist,” he said at closing.

Though I think every racist votes for Donald Trump, I do not believe everyone who votes for him is a racist.
